Fishing in Graveyard Keeper 2
6 fishing spots, 22 fish and three baits worth making - and the arithmetic that decides what bites.
Every cast rolls one fish from what the spot holds right now. A fish's chance is its weight, times the multiplier your bait gives it (nothing, if it ignores that bait), times its day or night multiplier, times how many of it are still in the spot - divided by the same sum for every fish there.

- Legendary fish
Roach has a weight of 1,000 at the Home and Village spots, against 5 to 10 for everything else, so an unbaited cast there is a Roach about 99 times in 100 - until the spot's 2 Roach are caught. Roach takes no bait at all, so any bait takes it out of the roll entirely.
How a catch works
- 1
Pick a bait
The bait window only offers baits that at least one fish at this spot takes. Some fish bite with no bait, the rest only on a specific bait. One bait is used per cast.
- 2
The roll
Weight x bait multiplier x day or night multiplier x fish left in the spot, compared across every fish at the spot. A fish whose stock is gone cannot be caught until it restocks.
- 3
Hook it
When the bobber dips, press the button before the bite window closes - rarer fish give you less time.
- 4
Reel it in
Pulling gains line while your Farming mastery outweighs the fish's pull - its fight strength times how hard it is resisting at that moment. When it fights back, ease off or the line snaps. A better rod lets the line take more strain, and the Fisherman perk lowers every fish's fight strength.
- 5
Let the spot recover
Each spot holds only a few of each fish (1 to 5) and restocks one at a time: common fish quickly, legendary fish five to ten times slower.

Bait
Crumbs, insects and live bait are the three baits fish in this game take. Crucian, Frog, Gudgeon and Roach bite on an empty hook; every legendary fish only takes Live Bait.

Fishing rods
A rod is needed to fish at all, and you need at least one level of Farming mastery. The rod's bonus is added to your Farming mastery when the game works out line tension, so a better rod snaps less often on a fish that fights hard.
Rods, the line bonus each adds while reeling, and where they come from.

Fishing questions
Why does the spot say there are no fish left?
Every spot holds a small stock of each fish - usually one or two, five of the Frog in the Swamp - and each catch removes one. The spot restocks one fish at a time; come back later or fish somewhere else.
Does the time of day matter?
For about half the fish. A fish marked for day has half the weight at night, and the reverse for night fish; the rest are the same around the clock. The spot tables above show both.
Which fish are worth the most?
The legendary fish: Mythic Carp (32 silver), Kraken Jr (30 silver), Celestial Salmon (34 silver) and Elder Catfish (36 silver). Each one only takes Live Bait, and the first catch unlocks its signature recipe.
What does the Fisherman perk do?
It lowers every fish's fight strength - Pike, for example, drops from 9 to 6 - so you lose line less often while reeling. Fish Filleter is its kitchen twin: more fillets per fish at the Kitchen Table.
Where do Worms Bait and Shrimp Bait come in?
They exist as items, but no fish at any spot takes them in the current version, so the bait window never offers them. Stick to Breadcrumb, Insect and Live Bait.
